Dustin Saam Violins is a full service stringed instrument dealership located in upstate New York at the historic Shirt Factory Arts Center in Glens Falls. Expert repair and restoration are available as are instrument sales for all levels of players - from the beginner to the performing artist. Insurance appraisals and adjustments are offered upon request.
Biography
Mr. Saam has been in the business of violin sales and service for over thirty five years. A master luthier, he has repaired and adjusted instruments owned and played by some of the world’s greatest concert artists. In addition, he has performed as a professional violinist for many years as concertmaster of the United States Air Force Symphony Orchestra until his retirement in 2003. He has also performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Phoenix Symphony and Delaware Symphony. In his youth, he studied the violin with his father who was a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra for over 40 years. These combined experiences gave him the distinct advantage of having a much broader knowledge and understanding of the needs of his clients.
Philosophy
Having spent his apprenticeship at House of Primavera Violins in Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Saam began the study of violin making and restoration at the age of twelve with Adolph Primavera, gradually honing his skills over time in the traditional method of the master-apprentice relationship. His passion for the luthiers' craft combined with a love for the picturesque area he now resides in has brought a unique artistry to the Glens Falls community that usually exists in only a few of the largest city centers of the world. His dream is to expand and encourage the growth of the arts by providing mentorship and affordable instruments that perfectly compliment the needs of string musicians at every level.
